Silver Spring, Maryland, United States

Bilal, Nivin, and Menna live in a tent measuring six meters by four. Menna was born last March during the war and is now six months old. Before the war, Bilal lived with his father and mother at home and got married a year before the war. At the beginning of the war, the house was bombed and was completely damaged, making it uninhabitable. Before the genocide, Bilal served his community as a teacher in UNRWA schools.

Unfortunately, the schools have been bombed and he can no longer count on income from teaching and needs to support his family — Menna needs diapers and baby milk as well as good nutrition and warm clothes. The winter is coming and Bilal’s tent has already collapsed due to heavy rain and had to be repaired. Everything costs a lot of money as you can imagine, with no aid coming in most of the time and having to buy things at a huge markup.
